Festive Theatre Trip – a great success!

NXG Trust funded 150 local people to a festive theatre treat on January 7. Three coaches left All Saints Church and headed off to the mysterious and atmospheric Southwark Playhouse Theatre to see an imaginative production of Howl’s Moving Castle. Though this play was written as a book for young people by Diana Wynne Jones, the play had an appeal across the genrations. Members and users of JOY, Green Shoots at NXG Trust, 170 Community Project, the Credit Union, 170 Works and Hatfield Skills Training Centre allowed themselves to get lost in the magical world of Howl’s Moving Castle and the wonderful theatre itself.

“What a treat, just the pick up we need as Christmas fades, we all loved it and to be honest, we can’t afford threatre treats right now, things are so tight, so a big thanks to NXG Trust.”                                                                                        Ruth, New Cross Road.

“So special, this was my daughter’s first time to the theatre, it was magical and something she and I will never forget, it might be a long time until we go again it so expensive, but this will remain a lasting memory for us both, thank you.” Anna and Sofia.

” On behalf of JOY, I want to pass on our thanks to the Trust for funding the Festive Theatre Trip. All of us who went thoroughly enjoyed this event, January is a bit a flat month after the Christmas festivities, so it was just the ticket.” Jane Keane, Secretary JOY.

“Wonderful, thank you, a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.”

Lily Drysdale

“That was fantastic, me and my three children had a ball, even though my oldest boy is in secondary school and  my youngest in primary we all thoroughly enjoyed it, a big thank you for thinking about us after Christmas, it really is a lovely thing to do”.                                                                                                                                                                                            Jeanette, Josh, Luccia and Brandon.

NXG Trust

NXG Trust has been set up to help build a community in New Cross Gate that is inclusive, confident and ambitious for the area and for the people living in it.
We are working to make New Cross Gate a fulfilling, healthy and safe place to live, work and study.
NXG Trust is based in the beautiful Besson Street Community Garden. This astonishing oasis, where vegetables and fruit grow side by side with exotic plants from all over the world, is the centre for a variety of established community activities and events.
If you would like to find out more about the Trust and it’s work, or if you would like to get involved in the work we do, or if you would like to put forward your ideas or suggestions please call in to see us. ‘Open Gate Weekends’ are regular community weekends throughout the year. These events take place at Besson Street Community Garden and are organised by Green Shoots at NXG Trust. The Garden Gate is open and everyone is welcome to join in the fun, relaxing and creative activities.
“This is the perfect spot, sitting around chatting, reading the papers, eating cake and watching children climb trees and catch frogs, right in the middle of New Cross Gate and the sun is shining, this is what it’s all about!”
Gloria J (local resident).
