A two week participatory exhibition and event series called ‘House of Covvens – South East London’ is running at hARTslane in New Cross from the 15th to the 29th May.
The project questions the meaning of engagement with politics through the imaginative possibilities of an alternative system based on empathy, cooperation and community via influences of the Wiccan tradition, shamanism and the DIY ethos of Riot Grrrl feminism. It aims to create a welcoming, non hierarchical space for local people to come together, reflect, tell stories and share ideas against the backdrop of the current social climate. It will be centred around a series of ten group discussions which aim to create a non-hierarchical, communal exploration of ideas and social issues using both conversation and creativity. There will also be foraging walks and moon sound performances to connect the space with the local and wider environment. More info:
