Food Health and Hygiene: This is a Level 2 course designed to equip anyone working or planning to work in the service industry with an industry standard qualification in food hygiene and handling. It is an intense, one day course with a multiple choice test at the end of the day. Certificates are awarded by Access Training 21 accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

Customer Service: This is a level 2 accredited qualification designed for all learners working or preparing to work in a customer service role or where using the telephone is a part of their role. Fire Warden Training: This is a level 2 certificated course accredited by Highfield and delivered in one day. This qualification is ideal for anyone who wants to boost their CV and put themselves ahead of others at an interview with a useful qualification that could save a new employer time and money. Care agenda: We offer a variety of courses based around the care agenda including: Child Protection, Safeguarding of vulnerable adults, ADHD and Autism awareness, Diabetes awareness, Dementia awareness, and many more. Please contact the office for the courses that we are currently offering.
ESOL (English as a second or Other language): Thanks to some much needed funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are able to provide ESOL training three days per week. The classes run Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and are provided at a variety of levels. To book onto a course, you need to first have an assessment, so that you can be placed in a class appropriate to your level of English. Assessment sessions are 3.30-5.00pm on a Monday, and 5.00-6.00pm on a Wednesday. For these you can just turn up at Besson Street Community Garden. We will then try and slot you in to one of our courses.
Bee-Keeping: This course is designed for those interested in taking up bee-keeping, those interested in helping out with ‘community bees’ or would just like to know more about bees in the urban environment. The course runs for three consecutive evenings from 6pm-8pm.
“I wanted to say a huge thanks for running this course – without it, my husband and I would still be dreaming of keeping bees instead of having bought our first hive and preparing for the bees to arrive next spring! This is a massive first step for us on our journey to eventually having a smallholding, and the confidence boost is indescribable. The fact we actually had hands on time at the hives was also invaluable, practising using the kit and dispelling any fears about being around the bees. You picked a great instructor and by offering the course at such an affordable rate it meant we could both attend, instead of just my husband as we had originally thought would have to happen”. Alexandra.
Other courses: We continually review our courses, and how we can improve the range of courses on offer. We welcome your feedback as to the types of courses that would be helpful to you. Updates on the courses on offer and dates will also be posted on Facebook (www.Facebook.com/NXGTrust).
