In response to the challenges posed by rising living expenses during the winter months, Lewisham Local is organising a collaborative effort among local establishments to establish Warm Welcomes. Initially piloted in the winter of 2022/23, Warm Welcomes will be operational again from 1st December 2023, to 31st March 2024.
What Are Warm Welcomes?
Community centres, libraries, faith groups, and others are offering open-access spaces at no cost, providing hot beverages, some warm meals, social engagement, and additional assistance.
Refer to the Warm Welcomes list below to locate the nearest space and gather more details. Please review each entry for opening hours and available services. Other terms such as Winter Welcomes and Warm Spaces are also in use.
Lewisham Council’s libraries are also participating as Warm Welcomes, as indicated on the map below and on the Council’s website. You can locate your nearest library and view their operating hours there.
Who is involved?
Numerous local community groups have autonomously established their own Warm Welcomes, and some are collaborating within specific localities.
Lewisham Local facilitates mapping and promotion of Warm Welcomes, offers grant funding, and provides supplementary support to the network. The 2023/24 Warm Welcomes initiative is generously supported by Lewisham Council, the South East London Integrated Care Board, and the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.
