Community Activities

We run a variety of community activities for local residents, all aimed at bringing the community together and providing the opportunity for local people to learn new skills, stay healthy, meet new people and have a bit of a laugh.

Gardening Club – Mondays 1-3pm, and Wednesdays 12-2pm
Every Monday and Wednesday, rain or shine, Gardening Club meets to garden and maintain our gorgeous site at Besson Street. As the Japanese proverb says “a Garden is never finished”, there’s always something that needs doing. You can grow your own vegetables, grow flowers, or engage in digging and weeding, whatever takes your fancy. We are always looking for new volunteers, so please come along if you are interested in helping us to maintain the community garden. You are most welcome.

Sewing clubs – We currently run a sewing club in Besson Street Community Garden on a Monday morning, 10.00-12.00. The classes are for anyone who wants an excuse to get out of the house, meet new people and learn or improve their sewing skills. The focus of this class is on health and well-being, encouraging people to get out of the house, meet new people, and tackle social isolation.

Anyone is welcome to come along and join in. Please contact Jill Mountford for further details. Email:
