Telegraph Hill Festival – It’s for everyone – 10-25 March

The Telegraph Hill festival provides two weeks of mainly free events and activities that are open to everyone. If you haven’t got a programme you can collect one from Besson Street Community Garden, or other community venues or visit www.telegraphillfestival.org.uk and make the best use you can of all the opportunities to have fun, enjoy culture and meet new people. We will be having lots of fun at Besson Street with the following activities:
Bubble and Slime – come and get hands on with some messy science at our after school workshop. Make giant bubbles, create gunky slime and wrestle with some weirdly behaving custard. Sally Collins, a wildly fun scientist, will lead you through the process, and explain the scientific properties that make them such fun. This activity is for 9-12 year olds. Thursday 15 March 3.45-5.00pm.
Art in the Garden – join our free art classes, using water colours and pastels. You will get tuition from local artist, Jo McCormick and inspiration from the gorgeous Besson Street Community Garden. Friday 16 March and Friday 23 March 10am-3pm.
Create a luscious Edible Hanging Basket – An opportunity to learn how to create long lasting and luscious edible hanging baskets that billow with herbs and other edible plants. You can choose between one of two workshops. Saturday 17 March 2-5pm or Sunday 18 March 2pm-5pm.
Make an Applique cushion – create a unique and beautiful hand embroidered and appliquéd cushion at a two day workshops for adults. The short course is taught by local artist Joni McDougall. All materials provided. Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 March 1-5pm both days.
Introduction to Bee Keeping (a taster)
 – A chance to find out more about the world of weeks and the basics of bee keeping. In this 90 minute workshop you will get the opportunity to learn some fascinating bee facts, handle a live bee hive and gain knowledge of some of the basics of bee keeping. Camilla Goddard of Capital Bees, will be running this workshop. Sunday 18 March 2-3.30pm.
